We are presently living in North Vietnam.We live in a Vietnamese community across the red river near hanoi.We have decided to base ourselves here for the next twelve months to experience all we can during this time.In May we travelled to Lao and spent time with our wonderful Lao friends and spent far to much time enjoying spicy delicious Lao food and of course drinking beer lao.We visited minority villages and took books to the schools,plus swam in cool waterfalls and of course revelled in the handicrafts.We have spent a few weeks in the mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam where many different Minority peoples live .We have visited the Black ,Green,Blue,Red and Flower Hmong People.The red and Black Dzao,the Lu ,Tay Giay,Sa pho and White Thai .We plan to do a lot more travelling to source unusual and beautiful hand crafted products from these people.Our journey this year has taken us to Halong Bay ,swimming and eating freshly caught seafood to Ninh Binh riding motor bikes through small interesting villages and soaking in mineral spas that are suppose to make the body strong ..Even though i was so tired after, all i wanted to do was sleep.

Hi, i'm erica welcome to our web site.
Geckos cultural collections [ geckoscc ] began unexpectedly, a visit to vietnam by myself and my husband [ a vietnam veteran ] changed our lives.
We discovered an enchanting mix of ethnic tribal people [ 54 different groups ] mixed with a geographical setting from the mekong delta in the south to the breath taking mountain regions in the north.
The birth of geckoscc was instigated by an appreciation of traditional crafts, especially by the tribal people and a burning desire to help them on their journey out of poverty. By buying directly from the villages and communal charities we know the money we spend goes directly to the source of labor.
Over a period of time we have cultured many wonderful and endearing friendships with our suppliers and artisan network
On our journeys we have visited many orphanages and as a result now sponsor two beautiful children, enriching our lives further.
We eventually ventured further than vietnam and have included the mountainous regions of northern thailand, myanmar, lao, cambodia, borneo and malaysia. Each journey brings new and exciting products to showcase.
